Runners Need a Chiropractor to Keep their Knees Fit

A lot of us like to get out there and run.  Whether it’s for fun, to relax, to unwind, or to stay fit, running is one of the best exercises we can do to ensure our body and mind are working together.

But there’s a big problem that runners encounter.  That constant pounding on the ground can end up taking a toll not just on the knees, but on all of the joints together.

The result can be a sore back, sore hips, sore knees, sore ankles, sore arches, and more.  One joint out of place has a domino effect on the entire body.

If You are a Runner, You Need a Chiropractor

Runners know there are few other sports that can impact the body the way running can.

When everything is aligned, the impact on your feet travels up the leg and is absorbed throughout the body.  It’s a marvelous process where everything works together.

However, when one joint, somewhere along the way, is even just a little bit off, the entire process is thrown out of whack.

Here’s how that works.  Let’s say your ankle isn’t in tune.  Even a slight adjustment in your gait means your knees are absorbing the impact at an improper angle.  That travels up to your hips, and into your back.  Soon, the entire body is compensating for that slightly off-balance ankle.  The result can be pain anywhere along the line.

But remember, that pain is the indicator that something is not right, but it’s the last thing to show up and the first to go.  So when the pain does show up, it means something has been afoul for a little while already.

What a Chiropractor can do for a Runner

Because the pain shows up long after something has gone wrong, it’s hard to catch these issues before they become issues that impact your running.

But once you have a maintenance program in place, it’s easy to ensure that your joints are working the way they should be working.

So here’s how that works.  You come in because your something something joints are hurting.  We figure it out and discover the cause of the pain.  We adjust everything to get it all lined up to help alleviate that pain.

Depending on how long the issue has been going on, your body will likely have developed the habit of “doing it wrong.”  That means after one adjustment your body pulls everything back out of alignment.

So you come in regularly until your body relearns the right way to position itself.  Then we taper things off.  It’s just a maintenance issue now to keep things in line so that you can ensure your runs aren’t going to cause long-term damage or result in that pain.

So even though you feel good, and there’s no pain, we keep your joints lined up because when the pain shows up, it means something has been out of whack for a while.
